- We are licensed by the State of California Department of Public Health to provide sub-acute care, and have 9 licensed beds
- We have 8 beautifully painted and themed patient bedrooms, each with an extra bed for a sibling or parent/caregiver, and a private bathroom
- Seven bedrooms have doors opening to our lovely gardens
- One of the bedrooms is also a positive pressure isolation room
- Private viewing room and sitting area for child’s family to transition after the death of their child
- Two family suites, each with a private bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room with priority for occupancy given to end-of-life patients’ families
- Art and play activity rooms to entertain children of all ages
- State-of-the-art multi-sensory room
- Therapeutic warm pool for pediatric palliative aquatics to provide pain and symptom management and relaxation
- Laundry room for family use
- Therapeutic bathtub for patients
- Family-style dining for all meals and snacks in the Shaw Family Kitchen

- Sudie Sears Woodson Pet Companion Center for family pets
- Stephen Douglas non-denominational Sanctuary for ceremonies, gatherings, prayer or meditation
- Emotional, spiritual, and practical support for the entire family provided by our Interdisciplinary Team: pediatricians, nurses and nursing assistants, social worker, child life specialist, palliative aquatics specialist, psychologist and volunteers
- Frequent visits by certified therapy dogs, miniature horses and the Oakland ZooMobile
